If you’re in the market for an audio system, be it for your home, your car, or a portable variety, there are a number of things for you to consider. First of all you need to decide across what medium you’ll be playing your music. Most of the world at large has seen, used, or handled a CD before. But if you’ve ascended the musical chain (or descended, I guess – reel to reel, record, cassette, CD, MD, digital music) to the level of an iPod or other portable music system where your music is not even handled by a hands anymore, then you know all the joy and fright inherent in that. In either event, the event of portable music and audio systems is something to consider.
When you’re looking for an audio system for your car you need to figure a few things. First of all, should your car audio have access to radio? Probably, because even though you may not like to admit it, if there’s big tie ups on the freeway or a road has been closed down for whatever reason, it’s important to have this information in your own car so you can 1) get around it and 2) so that the not knowing doesn’t make you crazy (and if you only get digital music system, you’ll think back to reading this article and not remembering what I said, and you’ll be sorry!)
Besides, the cheapest car audio is only a stereo system with no CD or iPod attachment anywhere. If you’re really looking for discount car audio then that’s what you’re most concerned with anyway. Wholesale car audio can be had from a number of places. Probably the first and best chances of finding a really cheap, wholesale type car audio unit, is from a car stereo dealer. You want to look for their out of date units; the best way to do this is befriend the reps and ask! When do you get new units? If they tell you, “oh we have a shipment of new units coming next week to replace that one you’re interested in” then they’ve basically answered your next question which is “when does this guy go on sale?” If there’s been no announcement for a sale, listen up! And shop around! If one of these guys is getting the new unit in, chances are they all are getting the new units around the same time frame.
