If it will only take a couple of extra months of you hauling around your old junk heap of a previous car to be able to afford your car outright, then you won’t even need to consider things like collision or the interest in financing that is usually what takes new cars from being too expensive and shoots them into the stratosphere. Check with your states insurance laws to see if you don’t need to carry the greater insurance on a financed car as it varies from state to state.
