Cheap gas is like water in the desert. “Fugghetaboutit!” However there are a few situations where you may be able to locate cheap gas from the correct sources; so long as you’re not thinking of siphoning gas from others tanks, there may be some hope for humanity; what do you think this is the 1970’s? While we haven’t reached that level of desperation there is a crown jewel put on cheap gas.

There are many great things about the price wars in gasoline sales that are more asterisks to the fact that gas has gotten so expensive in the first place. There has been a great camaraderie among drivers and personalities; local radio DJ’s in Los Angeles have started calling out all the gas stations in town and tell their radio listeners where the ‘cheapest gas in town’ is located; making the search and finding of cheap gas a whole lot more tolerable.

If you’re not in a big market area you may be stuck with the price gouging of your local retailers as they have to set the prices at what they need to. I just think it’s interesting that there’s a swing of $2.00 in the national hi’s and low’s even though we’re all getting gas from the same pumps and the same pipes. Trust me, I live in New York City so I understand about bigger cities having to charge more for things; I just think it’s wrong when people take advantage of things like their local consumers just because they can.

Finding cheap gas may not be any fools tale. If you have a number of local gas stations that you have access to, I’m no doubt sure that you know where the cheapest prices are and the best times of day to get gasoline. I would never get gas during the day unless I was at absolutely zero and I had no other choices, as I found a 24 hour place that was by the highway that had some of the best prices in the region. Certainly there were cheaper places but the grief of having to make it to that part of town (and during the day, no less!) made the whole exercise something of futile.

A number of locations in your town or city no doubt tout the cheapest gas prices in town but that’s all sort of relative to when you are there and a number of other factors which may prove to be out of anyone’s control.
