The hotel industry is only as good as the tourism in its city of residence at any given time. Some hotels such as ones in cities like New York are always full! There’s nary a bed to be found on any Tuesday night in the year just because of the combination of business travel, limited space, and random events scattered around the city at any time of year. From New Years Eve to St. Patrick’s Day Parades to Memorial Day to the 4th of July on the Westside waterfront to Turkey Day back to New Years and all the rest in between; there are only a limited number of beds and an infinite number of visitors on any given day in the city that never sleeps.

Places that are more seasonal have a different step; I’ve been to Virginia Beach a few times and all the hotels along the water have always been swamped; but I went once in the dead of January and got a top floor room for a song; they were practically giving the things away! And rightly so because all the vendors were gone; restaurants were closed; the place was a ghost town!

If you’re looking for cheap hotels in any number of cities, you need to call ahead and see what the field looks like; I’d hate for you to be sleeping on your coat on a park bench just because all the beds were occupied by someone else. It’s tough to get sympathy from a front desk clerk for not planning ahead too. Being a front desk clerk for years; I’ll tell you what I’ve learned; people don’t prepare enough. It will only take an extra two minutes to call ahead to the hotel and assure your reservation you made online was confirmed; it pains me to have to turn away people when there’s literally “no room at the inn,” but it’s what I have to do almost without fail because people didn’t take those extra minutes to confirm their reservation.

Cheap hotels in Las Vegas are ready to be found as they just want you inside the hotels and the partnering neighborhood casinos. If you’re looking for cheap hotels in Amsterdam that’s another story entirely. You should always check ahead when you’re doing international travel and ask! People are people at hotels; they can also tell you their opinion about when the best time is to visit.

Berlin, Hong Kong, or London there are cheap hotels to be had; all you need to do is make sure you’re looking in the right place and go forth into the world!
