Walk into any fine department store and you will find tons of expensive and pricey perfume. Sure, they smell great, but does expensive perfume mean it’s the best perfume? Probably not. If you want to smell great without spending a fortune, then how about making your own perfume? Making your own cheap perfume saves you money and is easier than you might think. Here are some ways that you can save money by making your own perfume right at home.
Tips For Making Your Own Cheap Perfumes You might be surprised to know that you can make your own perfume cheap using simple ingredients that you can purchase at almost any craft store. When you make your own perfume, you can experiment with scents that you love, to make just the right fragrance for your personality. To get started, you should know a little bit about essential oils. Essential oils are made from concentrated oils from flower, barks, trees and leaves. Every perfume contains essential oils and you can buy essential oils at health food stores and arts and craft stores. The price of the essential oil will vary depending on what it is, but you can expect to pay around $2-8 for a small bottle. Do some research into essential oils and take the time to smell each one. Buy several that you can mix together to create a unique scent. Remember, when it comes to using essential oils to make your own perfumes cheap, a little goes a long way. You will also need spring water, pure grain alcohol and bottles for storage. Small glass bottles work best when storing homemade perfumes and oils. Start by combining two or three scents together. Perfume is usually made of base notes, which are scents that stay with you longer, such as vanilla and sandlewood, middle notes, such as lemon and clove and top notes that evaporate faster. These are usually scents such as lavender and rose. For 2-1/2 ounces of alcohol, you will need 25 drops of essential oils, divided equally. Mix the two together and allow it to sit for several days. The longer it sits the stronger the smell. After it achieves a smell that you like, add two tablespoons of spring water and filter through a coffee filter into a glass bottle. Now you have your own very unique perfume that cost you a fraction of what it cost to buy expensive perfumes. |
